Two area phone books from the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company,
one for 1946-1947 and the other for 1950-1951 with yellow pages ads for
three Trappe businesses: A. E. Ornett & Son feed and grain, Douglas
Sullivan's grocery store located where the Shore Stop is today at the
light on Rt. 50 and Thomas's Junk Yard which was the first Trappe
business owned and operated by blacks. It is the only one of the three
still in business and is on Rt. 50 just north of town.
