This 1888 item is more interesting for its being
postmarked Hambleton, than for the contents. Located
3 miles north of Trappe, it was originally named Hole
in the Wall in the 1700s. The name was changed to
honor a local farmer Col. Samuel. Hambleton when it
got a post office in 1873. Otherwise the letter is
from H, A. Corkran to Addison Leonard informing him
of his inability to collect on a debt owed to Leonard
and suggesting the loan be extended. Courtesy
