Harvesting wheat with
an early combine in the Defender Packing Co. field
that would later become Home Run Baker park on Main
Street. The combine, believed to be an early Alice
Chalmers, is being pulled and powered by a Farmall
"M" or "H" tractor. The grain was
delivered into cloth bags and when a bag was filled,
the operator would tie the bag and slide it down a
metal shoot where it would drop into the field to be
picked up by a truck. The pictures are from the 1950s
