This is a detail from a rather colorful 1940 State of Maryland road map made
after the 1935 Choptank bridge, but before the 1952 Bay bridge. Rt. 213 had
been rerouted from Easton to Dover bridge over the new Choptank bridge. Rt.
213 then became the most direct way to Cambridge, Salisbury and Ocean City.
Unfortunately, the road also went straight through Trappe causing traffic
problems down narrow Main St.
