Defender House at 29241 Backtown Road just north of Trappe is a historical
treasure, possibly dating from as early as 1815.
In the year 1919, Anthony Adams established a
cannery at this location and called it Defender Packing
Co., from which the house takes its name. The Rural Life Museum of Trappe, Md. Inc. is planning to locate in Defender House.
