Photo of J. Frank "Home Run" Baker and his
wife Ottilie taken about the time they were married
in 1909. 1909 was an important year for Frank Baker:
he hit his first career homerun on May 29 and married
Ottilie Tschantre of Cambridge on Nov. 12 in San
Fransicso where this photo was taken. He used to row
the two miles across the Choptank from Kirby’s
Wharf to Cambridge when they were courting. They had
two girls. Ottilie died during the influenza epidemic
in 1920. He married Margaret Mitchell in 1922 and
they had a boy and a girl.
