Hans Asmussen threshing wheat on Walnut Grove Farm, Island Creek Neck in 1943. The pickup is a 1938 Hudson. The thresher is powered by a Case tractor which is hidden behind the pickup. Unlike a combine which is mobile and cuts and threshes the grain while it is being driven over the field, the thresher remained stationary while the grain was brought to it.
